St. Mary's Catholic Center Marriage Ministry
Congratulations on your engagement. In God’s providence you have found each other and are choosing to give yourselves to each other in love. Jesus Christ has raised the love of man and woman to the dignity of a sacrament, a sign of the love of Christ for his Church. St. Marys offers a variety of paths to help you prepare for your Christian marriage, to become that sign of the love of Christ for his Church. The following website will help outline the steps to take that will help you follow Christ into marriage. The first three steps are for all couples. Please follow the links provided for further details.
Usually the formation and pre-marital preparation processes take about six months. Please don’t put down deposits on reception venues etcetera until you have met with the priest or deacon to establish the date of your marriage. To meet with the priest or deacon, fill out the form below.
Please obtain from the receptionist at St. Mary's a pair of the workbooks titled For Better and For Ever. The cost of the books is $20 for the pair.
Please read page 7 and complete chapters 1, 6, 13, 20 and appendix D
. On page 11 of chapter 1 you are instructed to obtain a baptismal certificate. Do not complete this step yet. Please wait until your first meeting with the priest or deacon and he will explain when and how to do this step.
Once you have completed the above listed chapters of For Better and For Ever, fill out and submit the form below and a priest or deacon will contact you shortly to set up your first meeting.
God who has loved you into life and guided your footsteps until now has much to teach you in
the process of preparing
for the sacrament of marriage. Open you hearts to him and invite Jesus Christ to guide you in this journey.
** Please note: Some couples, where one or both live out of town, choose to get married at St. Mary’s do preparation somewhere else. Preparation and the ceremony can take place in different places. If you will receive preparation elsewhere but want to marry at St. Mary's, please note below.
