The 44th World Day of Prayer for Vocations is April 29th. St. Mary's will have a special Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament that day to pray for vocations. The event will take place in the Hannigan Chapel from 3:00pm - 4:00pm. All are invited to join us in prayer for this important need in our Church. John Paul II told us, "There is an urgent need, for a more widespread and deeply felt conviction that all the members of the Church have the grace and responsibility to look after vocations".
If you are unable to join us, please take a moment to say a prayer on your own or with family:
Loving and Faithful God,
You promised that you would never leave your flock without shepherds.
We pray for those whom you are calling to lead your church
through ordained ministry, and consecrated life as sisters and brothers.
We ask that they will hear your call and respond with generosity
to your invitation to serve your people and to lead them in faith.
Bless the efforts of our parish to foster your call. Help us to encourage and support those from our parish whom you are calling.
We pray for the seminarians from our diocese, and those preparing for consecrated life. Give them your spirit of wisdom and perseverance.
Open our hearts with a willingness to serve you,
in whatever way you ask of us.
Give each of us the grace to accept our calling with courage, generosity, and joy.
Lord, we also ask your blessings for the missionary dioceses throughout the world
where some of our brothers and sisters rarely celebrate Eucharist
and long for the ministry of priests, deacons, and religious.
Bless them with more vocations that your church may continue to grow.
Loving Father, we ask this in the name of Christ who is our brother and Good Shepherd, and who lives and reigns forever and ever.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us and for those from our parish whom your Son has chosen to lead his people. Amen.
