The Work of Human Hands Fair Trade Sale is from 9 AM to 9 PM on Saturday Dec. 7 & Sunday Dec. 8.
Add meaning to your Christmas shopping by giving an opportunity for a better future to producers and their families when you purchase beautiful handmade items at the Work of Human Hands Sale.
The Fair Trade Sale provides an opportunity to put our consumer dollars to work for a better world by buying extraordinary, one-of-a-kind Fair Traded handcrafts through the Work of Human Hands project of Catholic Relief Services. The program sponsored by Catholic Relief Services in partnership with SERRV, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty by providing opportunity and support to artisans and farmers worldwide, is rooted in principles of human dignity and economic justice
The sale offers high-quality, fairly traded crafts and food produced by more than 90 small-scale artisan and grower cooperatives from around the world. All the items are produced by democratically run groups of disadvantaged artisans and farmers, mostly women, who struggle to compete in the conventional trading system. When someone purchases their products, they not only generate needed income for the artisans and growers, but also contribute to the sustainable development of the communities where producers live by stimulating local economies around the world. By participating, you are helping Fair Trade producers earn a fair price, work in a safe environment, get access to credit and training, educate their children, and gain other forms of community support to improve their lives.
