For most people, the word “hunger” conjures images of suffering and need. For some 20% of Texas households not being able to afford food, this is a reality and a terrible human tragedy. One in four children lived in these households. Hungry children can’t learn, the elderly must choose between food and medicine, and parents must bear the constant stress of not being able to provide. The reality of hunger is even more acute during the summer months when children are out of school, because they do not get free breakfasts and lunches at school; as a consequence, families need to spend more on food and more rely on food pantries to get enough food for their children. You can help feeding the hungry in Bryan/College Station
canned fruit, veggies or beans to the food drive at St. Mary’s next Sunday (July 3) for
the St. Vincent de Paul Society food pantry. Donations can be put in the carts at the back of the church. Thank you for helping feeding the hungry of our community!
