The magnitude of foster care in America is startling. More than 700,000 youth of every race, ethnicity, culture, and age group are affected by foster care each year. They are placed in foster care when their parents or guardians are unable to ensure their well-being. These young people need stable, loving care until they can safely reunite with their families or establish another lifelong relationship.
Opening your home for a child who has been neglected or abused or being their advocates is really a gift of love and compassion for these misfortunate kids. In this issue of Matthew 25, we will look in more details what foster care entails.
