Tuesday, December 13, 2011, 5:30 PM - 12:00 AM
Location: Main Church
The Main Church is located at 603 Church Ave. one block North of Texas A&M in Northgate.
A healing service, including the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, will take place at daily Mass.
Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament
that provides spiritual grace and support to those suffering from serious illness or old age.
It is normally intended for
those whose health is seriously impaired by illness or old age [CCC1524], or before undergoing surgery for a serious illness.
The sacrament is incarnational and focused on
the strengthening, comfort and salvation of the whole person (whether or not physical healing is the result). While we pray for a particular physical, emotional, or spiritual healing, we understand that God's healing may occur in many ways.
The sacrament originates
in the healing ministry of Jesus, and follows the practice of the early Christians.
"Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven." (James5:14-15).
Reconciliation is available prior
to Mass, beginning at 4:30 pm.
